A visit to Hamerson Pond and a new online learning course

Jefferson County Chief Gardeners Volunteers look forward to a visit to Hamerson Pond on August 12 at 6 p.m.

Steve Mode leads the tour of the pond and discusses native plants and future plans for the area. Bark River Nature Park and Hamerson Pond are located at 522 S. 4th St., Fort Atkinson.

The public welcomes the visit and discussion.

Mode shares future stories and plans for Bark River Park and Hamerson Park. Discover the purpose and importance of native plants for the park and pond. Water and canned cookies are available.

Jefferson County is welcoming new Master Garden volunteers for 2022. In order to be a volunteer gardener by 2022, people must meet the following requirements.

• Register and complete foundations in Horticultural-Fall 2021. Registration deadline is August 13 at 11:59 p.m.

• Participate in a county open house.

• Enroll in an on-board course on the Master Gardening Program from January-March 2022

Foundations in Fruits and Vegetables is a current supply for those interested in becoming a major gardener or learning more about gardening in Wisconsin.

Fundamentals of Horticulture in FIH is a new online course designed to increase your knowledge of Wisconsin horticulture. FIH is an interactive online course that includes readings, videos, and questions and answers with experts.

There are also alternative online labs. FIH prepares people for the main gardening test in onboarding. FIH is also available to the public. Registration is open and space is limited

The public is invited to attend the Jefferson County Master’s Gardeners Volunteers Association meetings and programs. The meeting will be held on the second Thursday of the month, 6:45 p.m., at UW-Extension, Jefferson County, 864 Collins Road, Jefferson.
