Statistics Display Results –
The Nebraska State Fair is a great opportunity for 4-H members to show what they have learned and worked during the year. Dawson County 4-H Exhibitions had 74 non-moving exhibitions at the Nebraska State Fair. The following are the results for Gothenburg, Brady, and Cozad 4-Herds Ribbon, according to UNL Extension Instructor Andrea Nisley.

Contest results:
Gothenburg, Kozad and Brady received the following ribbon papers at the 4-H in the 4-H event, fashion show, food contest, fruit and vegetable contest, weed and grass identification contest, tree identification contest, and Nebraska state show. According to UNL Extension Instructor Andrea Nisley, Insect Identity Contest and Special Prizes Sarah Civits, United Extension Instructor; And Mike Wolf, Extension Assistant.
Presentation Competition – Blue, Carson Rimman (C) – “How to build a diorama”.
Design Gallery Exhibitions – Rector Spradlin (C) – Design decisions selected for the exhibition (Copper Rose) in the 4 -H Design Gallery.
Garden – Upper Class, Blue, Sarah Trefer (C); Red, Greg Trefer (C) and Rector Spradlin (C). Sarah Trefer, Greg Trefer and Rick Sprandlin top team all placed third.
Weed and Grass Identification – Sarah Trefer Team, Greg Trefer, Recker Spradlin, All Kozad and Parker Walahowski, Overton team overall.

Animal Husbandry Outcomes
For some Dawson County 4-herders, the best way to spend the weekend is to compete in the Nebraska State Animal Show. According to the Dawson County Extension Office, Dawson County bulls, sheep and pigs went to the Grand Island with their owners.
The special recognition received by Dawson County 4-Hers was by Jessie Wolflinger (L) of Heifer Annual Breeding at the reserve champions Maine Anju. Here are the details of the 2021 State Fair Animal Contest –
Bull Display – Senior Display Room – Purple, Helen Keizer (G); Red, Tri and Pearson (b).
Market meat – Red, Tray and Pearson (b)
Breeding Meat – Blue, Tri and Pearson (b); Helen Keizer (G)
Pig – Emma Peterson (G) gathered blue and took a purple ribbon with her to the big pig show.
Meat Goats – In preparation, both Negli sisters, Abby and Aligha (G) received blue ribbons. Abi Negli (G) found a blue ribbon on her market goat. Blue Ribbon was received by Abi Negle (G) and Aligga Negele (G) x 2 in breeding Goat Doy classes.
We are proud of all of our Dawson County 4-Hers. They have done an excellent job of showing and showing off their animals.
