During the new semester, there will be many events, classes and opportunities to get acquainted with the campus. But we definitely wanted to share a few things you don’t want to miss!
1. Enjoy a Milk Heritage Museum and a crying cow
The Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum is a unique farming experience for people of all ages. Gob itors learn how to get healthy milk from the farm to the table. He also honors the Kenan family, whose benevolent support helped us to create this educational destination on the ACC State dairy farm. The interactive museum allows visitors to discover the typical North Carolina dairy products. While you’re at it, whip the cream of ice cream for your favorite soup, or two. Did we mention that they also have shakes, sunsets and ice cream sandwiches? Our mouths water, so we’ll see there!
2. Visit the JC Raulston Arboretum
At the beginning of the semester, JC Raulston Arboretum is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun and fresh air. The library serves as a popular laboratory for students and teachers, such as a living laboratory, a resource for professionals in the green industry, and a tourist attraction around the world. Admission and parking are free. If you want to learn a little more about your visit, you can request a $ 5 guided tour per person. Visits must be scheduled one month in advance.
3. Buy a houseplant
In the fall you will have two chances to find the perfect houseplant to grow your bedroom or apartment. They support NC State Veterinary Science students by purchasing a plant. Horticulture Club sells plants in Brick Square for the second week of class on Wednesday, August 25, from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. Art October 9-11. Brotherhood holds a second plant sale in the spring.
4. Grab your NC State and CALS Gear
If you are new to NC State, or a returning upper or graduate student, check out the latest NC State and CALS gears at the campus bookstore, Wolfpack makers. The store has everything from T-shirts and sweaters to water bottles and cups, so go ahead and stock up. You can now save up to 15% on backpacks, planners and other school supplies by August 31st.
There are many ways to get involved in campus life and meet new, lifelong friends. There are literally dozens of clubs and organizations from MANRRS, the Table-top Players Club and the Food Science Club. So visit the NC State website and search for clubs, organizations or events based on your interests. Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and find your new community of people!
