Young – Youngster City Scoop plans to upgrade and use old brazilian flowers and greenhouses for a variety of purposes.
The city’s beauty company bought the closed West Side flower shop and greenhouse on 23-26 S. Belle Vista Avenue on July 27 for $ 145,000.
“CityScape’s acquisition of the last city greenhouse is the next logical step in the company’s 24-year commitment,” said Sharon Lensen, executive director of CityScape. We have project plans and partners ready to move forward with the site.
The organization’s next step is to “provide TLC (compassionate love and care), renovate and improve critical systems,” he said.
CityScape said it will return the building to the greenhouse and sell flowers and seasonal items, create a retail space and offer workshops, events and education programs focused on fruits and vegetables, flowers and gardening.
Briel closed on December 31, 2019, after 96 years in business.
“We are thrilled to continue the Brielle family’s legacy as a greenhouse and flower shop property for the community,” said Lesston.
CityScape will discuss the plans further at a news conference next Tuesday.
CityScape is a non-profit community development organization designed to revitalize the Greater Area as well as its corridors.
