Dare County Libraries Announces Fall 2022 Adult Enrichment Series – OBX Today

Dare County Libraries has announced the return of its popular Adult Library Enrichment Series, which will be offered as blended events beginning in September 2022.

Programs include the option to join via Zoom for those unable to attend, primarily in the meeting room of the Kill Devil Hills Library.

Each month from September through December 2022, the Dare County Library will host programs on a variety of topics, including nature, gardening, writing, the history of the Outer Banks, self-care and more. This season’s presenters include the Network of Endangered Sea Turtles (NEST), the North Carolina Aquarium, the Outer Banks History Center, curator James Charlotte, writers and representatives of National Fiction Writing Month, North Carolina Cooperative Extension’s Dare County Master Gardeners, and the National Park Service.

The fall series begins Friday, September 9, 2022, with a presentation by Rachel Veal, horticulturist at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. Wondering how to create a more sustainable, wildlife-friendly, and fun landscape for your home? In this presentation, participants will learn about the benefits of native plants and how they can manage their yards in an ecologically sound manner that reflects the beauty of the Outer Banks.

In person, participants choose a native plant to take home with them for their yard. The event will be held both indoors and outdoors, in person at the Kill David Hills Library meeting room and Pollinator Garden. An alternate rain date is Friday September 16, 2022 from 12pm to 1pm.

Registration information

The Dare County Library Enrichment Series for Adults programs are free to Dare County residents and property owners 18 years and older. Space is limited, so registration is required in person or in virtual presence. Programs are not registered. Participants can register to attend online one hour prior to the event. Subscribers will receive Zoom entry instructions within 24 hours of an event.
