The participants discussed various issues related to input prices and market prices of commodities to assess the financial level of providing short-term loans to the farmers in the form of working capital for various field crops.

Information on the cost of various sub-items for crop cultivation and dairy animal care such as animal feed, fertilizers, pesticides, manpower additions and manure etc. was provided to the audience.

Taking into account the inflation, the committee unanimously decided to increase the SOF production to 6% in most crops and raised it to 15% for mushkibhaji, garlic etc. It is said that the prices finalized by the committee will be forwarded to the state level technical committee.

In his speech at the forum, Dr. Basharat stated that agriculture and allied sectors are the backbone of food supply and an important economic activity and the credit service provided to the farmers will contribute greatly to the development of the sector.

The banks have been instructed to be liberal in lending these small loans to farmers without delay.
