News release
Nurses at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Unit were recently awarded the DAISY Team Award for Dialogue. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the day-to-day efforts of nurses.
The DAISY Award for Outstanding Nurses has been recognized by health care organizations around the world for their outstanding care and compassion. The DAISY Team Award is for two or more nursing teams who come together to address a specific situation. Nursing teams can be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues, and the DAISY team has been nominated by the Nursing Committee on Ephraim McDowell Health to receive the award. The DAISY Team Award is presented once a year for outstanding performance. Each member of the nursing team will receive a certificate of appreciation for being a “special nurse”. The certificate states, “For all you do, who you are, and your team work, appreciating the significant difference in the lives of many people.” The team will receive a special engraved board with the name of the group.
Behavioral Health Nurses are selected by the patient, “Megan leads an amazing team that works flawlessly. First, Megan always worked with her nurses, knowing the name and condition of each patient. She is always there for patients in need. I saw how the whole group came together for me. Nurses, therapists, and technicians are trained to talk in difficult times. They all offer different skills and resources. The nurses, with many years of psychological experience, supervise the media and communicate with doctors. The technologies communicate with the nurses. I received the best possible care. All the staff worked together to teach me about the treatments and exercises that helped me get out. Talk to me about my fears and inspire me to have a safe plan to go home. The patient described what everyone had done to show compassion and support for the “better mental health journey”.
Nominations for the DAISY Award are available throughout the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Hugin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities at various locations.
