Garden tour blooms again – Rio Rancho observer

Placitas Garden Tour is back, with a wide variety of artists working among the leaves this year.
The fifth annual garden tour is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On September 19, participants will walk through seven Plaitita gardens, each featuring an artist.
Adult tickets are $ 13 in advance or $ 15 on the day of the event. Children 12 and under are free and must be with an adult.
“This is an early harvest garden visit, and the focus of the two gardens will be on all kinds of containers and raised beds,” he said. The rest of the gardens focus on locally grown plants, wildlife conservation, erosion control, and landscaping to plant and protect hardwoods from the Placitas foothills.

Gardens are called:
• Critter Café;
• Lizard Lounge;
• Eatin ‘vegetable;
• An old European garden;
• Descanso de Aves;
• Very Talavera garden; And
• Raven Hollow Garden.
The garden guide includes a map of gardens and parks, and drivers can see directions on the streets.
Three gardeners, bronze sculptures, glass mosaic artist, welding sculptures and basket carriers are scheduled to create their pieces in the garden. In the past, all the participating artists were open-air artists.
Outside of NM 165, the Placitas Community Library is considered a hub and activity center. The gallery showcased the works of garden-visiting artists, available for purchase.
Sandoval Extension Master Gardeners are ready to set up a relief table outside the library, and the Albuquerque Day Lily Association sells flowers. Artist Nancy Holly plans to sell Talavera pottery to raise funds for participating organizations.
Senior gardeners, library volunteers, and others spend time visiting the garden.
“To thank the volunteers for their time and contributions, the Placitas Garden Tour will provide donations from their ticketing fund to their flexible volunteers,” he said in a statement.
