This year, homeowners are looking at record numbers, and a new survey shows that gardeners of all ages will be digging back in 2021.
According to a stock market survey, 86% of homeowners plan to continue gardening by 2021. About 40% of those surveyed said they planted the same last year, and 47% said they were planting more and expanding. Gardens next season.
Many homeowners who participated in the study said they were in the garden by 2020 because it provided them with something to do at home during the outbreak, providing a source of exercise and helping them cope with stress. But, so many, most of them were gardens to add beauty to their lives.
“More than half of those surveyed told us they wanted a beautiful outdoor space,” says Kathleen Henssey, director of the Axum Horticultural Marketing Group. Because many of us spend a lot of time indoors, and spend a lot of time outdoors, gardening opens the door to positive activities and positive emotions when things seem too bad.
Above all, gardeners felt that the season was over.
“Over 80% of those surveyed felt that they were successful or very successful in their gardening business by 2020,” added Henssey. “This is great news for the fruit and vegetable industry. When homeowners feel successful, they buy more plants, are more likely to try new varieties of vegetables, and expand their knowledge. These are all signs that 2021 will be another busy year.
