Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a master gardener?

Green trumpet?

Have you ever tried to grow plants in your backyard last year, even though you haven’t done it before? Or maybe you really love gardening and have spent more time in your garden than you did last year. Well, if you are interested in gardening or want to learn more about gardening or maybe you want to learn more about how to create a pollen garden? You may want to consider becoming an extension master gardener.

You may not know enough to even think of becoming a gardener, but you are wrong.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to know everything in the world of gardening to be a master gardener. You just have to be willing, and willing, to learn and share information. If that is you, then this is for you.

Apply now

Now is the time to sign up for the Extension Master Gardener Program. Applications are available, and must be submitted by October 1St, 2021.

If you live in the Stearns and Benton counties, you can complete the application online by calling Extension Instructor Kathy Dreitz at 320.255.6169 or visiting z.umn.edu/mg2022onlineapp.com. .

The program

To become a senior gardener, you must first register to complete the online course. The main course takes approximately 50 hours of volunteer time. After that, the required amount per year is approximately 25 hours. Many volunteers outnumber the number because they simply enjoy the program and love it. Your local program coordinator and other volunteers will help you find opportunities for volunteers in your county. In addition, opportunities may be tailored to your specific interests and careers.

The core program costs $ 295, and financial support is available in each case. If the cost is an issue for you, be sure to talk to your local coordinator, Katie Dreitz, as she will try to work with you to find a solution that suits you. Feel free to email wins0115@umn.edu To discuss in more detail.
