Speaking at a meeting of industry sectors and infrastructure sectors in Guragram, Aurora said action would be taken against those who do not comply with the law. Including industrial parks.

“Groundwater is declining rapidly in 14 woredas of the state,” he said. Irrigation, Agriculture, Vegetation, Forestry and Fisheries Department and other relevant departments have been directed to work on a sustainable solution to this problem, she said.

She said all industries in the state have been instructed to obtain groundwater certification. Previously, the Central Groundwater Board has issued a certificate of groundwater resistance, but it is now being issued by the Harry and Water Resources Authority.

She added that so far more than 200 applicants have been granted NOC across the region.
