There are many community gardens in the East Village – 39, last count. In a total of 550 cities, that one piece represents. Fortunately, the caretakers of these popular oceans treat the “community” well, share their well-kept spaces with their neighbors, and host events ranging from art workshops to poetry readings to concerts. Last week was a perfect example of some of the two most active places plotting against some of the best performers.
With Ariana Hellerman (from the list below) and Madi Feldman of the City Parks Foundation, Martinez Band introduced – veteran players Steve Gluzband (Trump), Ben Lapides (guitar), Bernardo Minoso (Bass), Renato Thomas (beat) and Martinez on drums and Martinez on drums and Make their own spin on world-class parks like Parker, such as “Night in Tunisia”, “Caravan” and “Body and Soul.”

The night was warm, the space was limited and the mosquitoes were in a state of panic, but the garden was mentally buggy and the music was so good that they stayed until the end. Overall, a perfect Eastern village summer night.
The following night, La Plaza Culture, East 9th St. and Avenue C corner, hosted a series of final nights entitled ‘Garden Variety’, with TWEED TheaterWorks and HOWL Arts in various gardens, 9th Centers Community Parks and Parks, De Colorado Community Yard and Garden and 6 and B Garden. Edited by Swedish art director Kevin Maloni, the evening was hosted by the celebrated gothic actress Flottila Debarge, who sang a few verses and had no doubt that “Mom is good for you when you are good for Mom.”
Other actors include “Off The Bar Brass” by Dole Lipa, Katy Perry, and Amy Winhouse. Joseph Kክckler, a performance artist who made his opera voice, was very clear about having sex with spirits. The Tenement Tenors came from Lawrence, MA with their own tunes, but they showed what it would be like to cover Patty Smith’s “free money” if Petty and Paul Martin dropped. Clio Berlin took the opportunity to launch his new band, Cleo, and his heartbeat and it was a great start.

Closing the show was the only decoration of the area’s Fau Claudi from the hot pink clouds of the West Coast tour. The rest of the band may need some rest, but the band’s relentless leader – in their trademark attire and wig – has happily remixed the rest of the night into a dance concert, remixing old melodies like ‘Soul in My Soul’. LP ‘La Atomica’ from the new Spanish only.
Miss Debarge watched the show and the event was a success as the free space in front of Claudi was filled with Pink Scream fans.
“It was a wonderful evening,” she said. A great garden in the age of Rona and Delta, with a diverse population and beautiful people enjoying life.
