Kanataka Prime Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday opposed the declaration of the West Gats as an eco-emotional zone because it would negatively affect the lives of people in the region.

Bombay, who participated in an imaginary meeting on the implementation of the Casturirangan West Gats report, co-chaired by the Union of Environmental Protection, Forestry and Labor, Bahupinder Yadav, strongly endorsed the state’s position.

“The declaration of the Western Gates as an eco-friendly zone will have a negative impact on the lives of the people in the region. Therefore, the Karnataka government and the people of the region are opposed to implementing the Kasturangan report,” Bommay said.

Participants drew attention to the decision of the regional cabinet to oppose the Casturiranga report. The decision was taken after extensive discussions with the people and authorities of the West Gat region.

He said Karnataka is one of the most densely populated regions in the country and that the state government has taken great care to protect the biodiversity of West Gates. Road.

“Environmental protection is a priority. In this context, it is not appropriate to introduce one more law that affects the lives of the local people,” he said.

Casturiranga’s report was based on satellite imagery, but the reality is different, Bombay said.

Yadav assured union leaders that they would visit the state before making any decision, the prime minister’s office said in a statement.
