In total, there are 2,90,972 survey numbers in 525 villages in the district, out of which crop survey has to be conducted in 2,60,610 villages. Kodagu Deputy Commissioner said that according to the government order, farmers can register the crops they have grown in detail.
The farmers of the district can download the ‘Farmer Crop Survey App-2022-23’ from Google Play Store to their smart phones and record the details of the crops grown in their fields. DC announced that a total of 353 trained people have been appointed in every village to teach farmers how to use the mobile application.
According to Shabana M. Shaikh, Joint Director of the Department of Agriculture, the information is uploaded in this way by government officials appointed to each village (called “inspectors”). Up to 96 supervisors are appointed in the district.
Shaikh said that if the crop details and photographs recorded by farmers do not match, the inspectors will reject the information and send it to competent individuals for survey.
Assistant Director of Agriculture Department Narayana Reddy He said the data from the survey is important to identify eligible beneficiaries under Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme and crop insurance scheme. “The survey is needed for the statistics department and the agriculture, horticulture and sericulture departments to conduct crop collection tests,” said the official, asking the farmers to show the list of the crops they have produced at the scheduled time.
