A garden of the magnificent Royal Poinchina trees (Delonix Regia) is under construction in Choong Pree County, Kampong Cham Province. The garden, located 75 miles[75 km]north of Phnom Penh, covers an area of 8,888 square feet[8,888 sq m].
Moung Makara, co-founder of the garden project, said the project has started to transform the area into an eco-tourism site with the O’Take irrigation rehabilitation project in Sdoeung Meanchey Commune, Choeung Prey district. This will provide additional income for the local people, as well as protect the natural landscape and wildlife.
“This project was initiated by Army Commander Lieutenant General Hun Manet and his wife to help the people of the area, and everyone is welcome to visit and enjoy,” he said when presenting the plans to Agriculture Minister Veng Sack.
Sakon says he now fully supports 70% of the initiative.
This will be one of the most beautiful parks in the country, and will help promote green tourism. It also contributes to fish development by promoting and conserving fish species.
Sakon urged all stakeholders to support this initiative as it benefits everyone.
