mcc: Mcc needs Pvt help to protect 150 parks | Mysuru News – Indian Times

Mysuru City Mysuru City Corporation is working with private partners to develop parks in 65 parts of the city.
Lately, parks have not been adequately cared for, and some have become a haven for young people who literally roam the area. Considering the number of parks, MCC admits that it is challenging for the staff to take care of them.
So they plan to involve individuals, philanthropists, industry professionals, bankers and donors to take care of them.
With the recent budget, MCC Standing Committee on Taxation, Finance and Appeals has set out a detailed plan to engage the community by developing MS Shobha Parks into Tree Parks, and Miyawaki Parks.
According to the plan, two parks will be set up in urban forests in a disruptive manner. The concept has worked well in different parts of the world. The method involves planting more than two dozen tree species and shrubs together, which works well, according to officials.
Similarly, in every ward, one park is transformed into a tree park.
MCC currently has 529 parks. About 55 percent of the contractors and the rest are cared for by the civic body. Individuals and organizations who are willing to repair parks in their area should contact the MCC in this regard. About 150 parks are to be donated to private individuals and agencies.
Mayor Sunanda Palanera said she would not be able to speak in public about the election code of conduct and that a similar discussion would take place after June 20.
All parks are maintained in the MCC zones, according to the MCC. There are nine zones in the city and development officers in each zone are responsible for maintaining the parks.
