Bethany Pratt works outdoors, so she is accustomed to getting all sorts of bites, from mosquitoes to chicks. Jefferson County Veterinary Education Representative for the University of Kentucky’s Cooperative Expansion Service, after all, bug bites come with the region.
But a week later, the bite on Chigger’s hands and feet did not go away, and she realized that they could be something else.

The termites, also known as Pimotes, leave other bugs on the oak leaves and have not been heard in Jefferson County, Pratt said. But early in the summer, she said, we may have more than usual because of the broad XC storm.
“This is another second source of nutrients for oak bark,” says Pratt.
Itching has been reported in Washington, DC, where it has been reported.

Pratt said her office had received an increasing number of bug bites and itching complaints last month. According to Prat and Jonathan Larson, Assistant Professor of Extension Emology in the United Kingdom, itching can grow in areas with many oak trees and many sycamore trees.

Pratt warns, however, that it is very difficult to limit the bite, as people may react differently.
Instead of worrying about the type of bug bite, Pratt advises people with anxiety bites to seek medical attention. She says many bugs are not very effective on the leaves and the best way to get rid of bites is to cover as much skin as possible.
“Long sleeves, long pants and long socks may not be what we want to hear right now,” Pratt said.
