Roanoke Island Garden Club will hold its first 2021-22 season on September 9 at 10:30 a.m. and will gather under the shade of a tree in the great gardens of Elizabeth Gardens.

The program will feature “Summer Vegetation” and members will be invited to share some of their plants. Members should bring their own seating during the meeting.

The last business for the 2020-21 season was the election of members of the Executive Board: Faye Lewis, President, Jaye Maser, Treasurer; Christine Dorsey, vice president; And Melva Garrison, author. He was sworn in at the end of May at the old swimming pool.

In mid-May, the club was invited to an exhibition at the Mantero Dare County Library in October. Many members have been discussing and planning for the September 30 exhibition.

The club is also holding a fall plant and yard sale (fixed date) and its members are currently collecting donations.

Roanoke Island Garden Club meets from September 2021 to May 2022, usually on the first Thursday of each month. Most of the meetings were held at Elizabeth’s Garden of Eden. Adjustments are made from time to time. The club offers educational programs on all aspects of gardening and promotes a variety of community-related gardening projects. Guests are welcome at the meetings and club membership is open to all interested gardeners.
