The 99-year-old New Milford veteran recalled the Nuremberg trials and the liberation of the Dutch concentration camp.

New Milford – During the trial in Nuremberg, Germany, in the mid-1940’s, George Powder recalled seeing Nazi war criminals in their cells.

“I saw them all in person,” said 99-year-old Powell, a New Milford resident who served in the US Army for more than three years in 1942.

During Nuremberg’s trial, Pedar’s job was to remove from prison anything the prisoners could use to commit suicide.

He said he had removed glass from the windows, hooks on the walls, and once removed the toilet seat from the room of former Nazi leader Herman Goring.
