Try a free fishing license in Kentucky – ABC 36 News

Free fishing days June 4-5

Frankfurt, CA (WTVQ / NEWS Released) – Get your hands on Kentucky Fishing at the Free Fishing Weekend from June 4-5.

To celebrate Family Fishing, many communities around the state are holding special free fishing events for children on Saturday, June 4.

Here in the summer, the first weekend of June is a great time to catch a fishing rod and spend time with family and friends on the beautiful lakes, streams and rivers of the state.

Free weekend fishing is open to all, whether you are traveling outside the state or in Kentucky. You do not need a fishing license or fishing license, but make sure you still follow the size and number restrictions on the species you choose to keep.

Need help getting started? Visit the Fisheries and Wildlife Department website at fw.ky.gov and type “Learn Fishing” in the search box. You will find instructional videos on how to tie a knot and prepare fish for the table.

Not sure where to turn? Click the “Fishing” tab on the department’s website to get the best fishing tips and places for the annual fishing forecast.

The fishing page includes a link to Fishing in Neighborhoods. FINs provides dozens of easily accessible reservoirs near public centers in the state.

Want to take the kids or grandchildren fishing but not sure where to go? All listed times are local, considering the fall of one of the following free fishing events on Saturday, June 4.

If you are rowing one of the beautiful rivers or streams of Kentucky on a free weekend, do not forget to bring a fishing rod. A series of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Online Blue Water Trails series showcases adventures across the state and gives you tips on how to catch fish on the go.

Remember that you always have life jackets for everyone on the boat, whether you are a kayak or a power boat. It is also a good idea to always wear a life jacket, especially if your luggage is moving. Boats do not have time to put on their life jackets in the event of an accident or other time of great need. Learn more about boat safety and find ways to access the “On the Boat” section of the Department of Waterways in Kentucky.

If you are not happy with Angling’s offer this year, take a hook and line test drive during Kentucky Free Fishing Days from June 4-5.
