Finding trained farmers is a big challenge for our industry. Your best investment is to learn the basics of plant growth and grow your own staff to make better crop management decisions. Greenhouse 101 is a good introduction to the Greenhouse Training online program offered by IFAS Extension in Florida. Designed for those who do not have formal training in the orchard or in the nursery industry. Topics covered are plant parts and functions, photosynthesis and growth, greenhouse technology, flowering, compact and branch, irrigation, nutrition and plant health. The course is offered in English and Spanish.

The course will run from May 31 to June 25, 2021. The price is US249 per participant, 20% off if you register 5 or more. The course is entirely online, and includes pre-recorded videos, interactive discussion boards and questions with PhD professors. The instructional material is available at any time of the day, and during the class, two new modules are activated each week for a total of 8 learning modules.
