The city lounge is located on the old city center on Zongshan Road Jiaxing. The site is located between buildings of different ages and is a common urban waste site. The project is part of Jiaxing’s old city redevelopment plan and differs from major renovations. In an attempt to revive the complexity and diversity of life in the old city, he introduced Jane Jacobs’ concept of the ‘street eye’ to the ruins in an attempt to apply the “organ style” renaissance.

For this site, the most obvious features are chaos, blurred borders and four lush camouflage trees. The purpose of the project is to re-use the site to create an active community activity space and meet the requirements of public toilets. The building is interspersed with intricacies of the site, with a “Good Tree and Good Shelter” sign. In an unusual place, three yards were erected to guard the border, and three roofs were laid under the shade of the tree.

Around the architecture site and around the compound, it draws a three-dimensional line of steps and rails to attract public participation. It uses heavy wood concrete and a light metal grid to connect the street to the public. As the gob itor approaches, the concrete-lined entrance stimulates curiosity of the gob itor and directs the gob itor to its original walking path.

After crossing the surrounding stairs and stairs, it is the first place to stay on the rooftop, enjoying the safety and comfort of the cool shade under the trees, watching the busy Zongshan Road outside the walls. Entering the compound on the north side, the long stairs are a favorite spot for children in the nearby community. When children are playing, the main view of the courtyard is a shallow water scene.

The corridor below the entrance to the main building can serve as a practical place for small advertising in the community. The main part of the building is an open book reading area, full book walls and various reading platforms. As the end or starting point of the entire three-dimensional line, the reading area blends in with the roof and is part of a three-dimensional “Jiaxing Rice Pumpkin” style and some regional features.
